Section 504 - Parent Guide
WHAT IS SECTION 504?

Section 504 is the part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which applies to persons with disabilities. Section 504 is a civil rights act which protects the civil and constitutional rights of persons with disabilities.

For a student to be eligible for accommodations under Section 504, the student must have a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Major life activities include walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, working, caring for one’s self, and/or performing manual tasks.
